ParaSoft CEO To Speak At Sigs Conference For Java

Dr. Adam Kolawa Will Give Insight on Improving the
Java Development Process with Three Useful Presentations

MONROVIA, CA (October 11, 1999) - ParaSoft, leading provider of error prevention and error detection solutions, announced today that Dr. Adam Kolawa, ParaSoft CEO/Chairman, will conduct three presentations on improving applications written in Java(TM) at the Fourth Annual Sigs Conference for Java in San Jose, CA.

A recent report from International Data Corporation estimated there will be a 42% growth for the Java market through 2003. As Java development continues to explode so does the need for reliable solutions to assist managers and developers in producing top quality Java applications. ParaSoft, led by Dr. Kolawa, recognized this need and has been offering products to improve the Java development process since 1997.

"As Java becomes increasingly depended upon for crucial applications, the quality of the software must also improve," says Dr. Kolawa. "We have found that one of the ways to improve the quality of Java programs is to re-vamp the development process employed in most corporations. To do this managers and developers need to focus more attention on preventing errors rather than just finding errors after an application has been written."

One way to prevent errors is through testing, a topic of much interest to the Java community. On Tuesday, October 19, Dr. Kolawa will talk about "Improving Java Programming Language Quality and Reliability with White-Box Testing," which will explain what white box testing is, and why, as well as how it should be implemented.

Testing at the unit level is another important aspect of producing solid Java programs. In a related presentation, Dr. Kolawa will present, "Methods for Effective Java Unit Testing" also on Tuesday, to further explain how unit testing can be implemented on Java projects of all sizes.

Dr. Kolawa's presentation on Wednesday, "Adopting a Standardized Java Development Process," will highlight how coding standards can greatly reduce the number of errors that get introduced into the final product. "The key is preventing errors that could be costly," says Kolawa.

ParaSoft will also be exhibiting at the show so attendees can stop by booth #312 to learn about Jtest, ParaSoft's complete unit testing tool for Java. Jtest automatically performs static analysis, white-box testing, black box testing and regression testing.

Sigs Conference for Java will be held at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, California October 17-21. Dr. Kolawa will be speaking on Tuesday, October 19, and Wednesday, October 20. For more information on the conference please go to http://www.javadevcon.com.
