ParaSoft Releases jtest! 2.1

Latest Version of jtest supports JDK 1.2 and features user suggested enhancements

MONROVIA, CA. (February 8, 1999) - ParaSoft, leading provider of software productivity solutions, announced today the latest release of their automatic white-box testing tool for Java™ developers, jtest! 2.1. This new version of jtest! now supports developers who build their classes with JDK 1.2.

"Because jtest! is the only tool capable of white-box testing Java™ code automatically," said jtest! team leader Roman Salvador, "developers migrating to JDK 1.2 won't have to sacrifice the benefits of automatic testing and error-finding which jtest! provides JDK 1.1 developers."

In addition, jtest! 2.1 contains several additions based on user input. "We value what our customers have to say about our tools," added Salvador. "We design our tools not only to automatically prevent and detect errors in code, but also to save precious testing time, and thereby, increase a programmer's productivity. Any suggestions from developers on how we can further meet these goals is something we take very seriously because their feedback is key to the development of jtest!."

Enhancements made from user feedback include a modified GUI, menu shortcuts and menus with context sensitive help. jtest! users recommended these modifications to help them access information and move around with more ease and speed.

jtest!'s time saving capability captured the attention of Luke Cassady-Dorion, a reviewer for the independent publication Java™Pro. "With ever shrinking development schedules," says Cassady-Dorion, "any assistance is much needed, and the potential savings provided by jtest! is rather impressive."

About jtest!:

jtest! is an automatic white-box testing tool that tests Java™ software to improve the efficiency of the development process. jtest! strengthens a program's construction and helps Java™ developers deliver solid programs of the highest quality and most maintainability. "I can only rave about the level of coverage the tool gives my department," proclaims one Senior Developer from an information technology firm. "It fills the gap left by other white-box testing applications that concentrate on basic class and method functionality by going after those most difficult of code defects to uncover: uncaught exceptions."

jtest! uses patented "Test Generation System" technology (patent # 5,784,553 and 5,761,408) to test programs at the class level. jtest! automatically tests every branch of code under different input conditions and locates uncaught runtime exceptions. Frequent exceptions found automatically by jtest! include NullPointerExceptions, StringIndexOutofBoundsExceptions, ArrayIndexingExceptions, NegativeArraySizeExceptions, ClassCastExceptions, NumberFormatExceptions and user defined exceptions extending from the RuntimeException object.
