Name

CREATE CONSTRAINT TRIGGER  --  Creates a trigger for use with a constraint.

Synopsis

CREATE CONSTRAINT TRIGGER name
    AFTER events ON
    relation constraint attributes
    FOR EACH ROW EXECUTE PROCEDURE func '(' args ')'
  

Parameters

name

Use this parameter to specify the name of the new constraint trigger.

events

This parameter takes the different event categories the new constraint trigger will fire on.

relation

Use this parameter to provide the table name of the triggering relation.

constraint

This parameter takes the constraint specification.

attributes

This parameter is used to specify the constraint attributes.

func(args)

This parameter takes the name of the function to call as part of the trigger processing.

Results

CREATE CONSTRAINT

This message will displayed if the constraint trigger is created successfully.

Description

The CREATE CONSTRAINT TRIGGER command is called from within the CREATE TABLE and ALTER TABLE commands, and pg_dump to create triggers for referential integrity. It is not designed to be called by database users.
